- Individuals can sue for money only, up to $3,000.00

- You must bring the small claims action in the area where the defendant (the person being sued) lives, works, or has a place of business.
- Filing fees: $10.00 if your claim is for $1,000.00 or less;
$15.00 if your claim is for more than $1,000.00
- The trial is a simple, informal hearing before a Judge
- You should bring all evidence necessary to prove your claim with you to court. This can include:
1) Your own testimony
2) Pictures
3) Written agreements
4) Bills or invoices
5) Witnesses
- Parties to a small claims action are encouraged to settle their cases whenever possible.
