Hunting Licenses go on sale on August 18th, DMP Lottery Odds and Boundary Maps are available now in the Clerk's office.

New Town Hall office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  If you need accommodations outside of these hours please contact a specific department to make arrangements.

OCRRA has opened their compost site in Amboy for the season. With the purchase of a $10.00 season pass (purchase at the guard shack) you can drop off as much yard waste and pick up as much mulch as you need.  Monday, Thursday and Friday, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Tuesday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, closed Wednesday and Saturday they are open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Get a battery bag at the the Clerk's office and place your battery bags on top of your trash can throughout the month of July and your trash hauler will pick them up.

Clerk News

The Town Clerk's Office will no longer be open the 1st Saturday of the month.

The Town of Van Buren now issues multi-year dog licenses.  You can renew your dog's license for one, two or three years.  If you get a three year rabies shot for your dog you can get a three year dog license and not worry about renewing until the rabies shot booster is needed again (you will still get a renewal notice form NYS).  NYS will not allow any refunds for any reason for dog licenses.

PASSPORTS

The Town Clerk's office is now a passport agency.  No need to go downtown or wait at the post office.  You will need the following: an expired passport or an orginal or certified birth certificate and your NYS Driver's License.  You will also need to bring two passport photos.  A check or money order, one payable to: Department of State in the amount of $75.00 and one payable to: Town of Van Buren in the amount of $25.00 (this amount is the same no matter where you go).  Fees and documents are different for those under 16.  Please call the office for more information: 635-3010.

Passport Cards

You may begin applying for passport cards beginning February 1, 2008.  These cards wil not be available from the Department of State until sometime this Spring.

Passport Cards are good for land or sea travel to Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean and Bermuda.  

You must present the same identification and birth documents for a passport card.  The cost of the card is $45.00 for adults and $35.00 for those under 16.

Go to the Park & Recreation Dept for your passport photo.  Cost is $10.00 for age 59 and under and $8.00 for age 60 and over.  Personal pictures are not acceptable.

WHEN ARE YOU TRAVELING? Keep in mind it takes 4-6 weeks to receive your passport after you complete the application.  Expedited service can be requested for an additional $60.00 and takes three weeks.  The National Passport Agency urges you to expedite your application if you are traveling in ten weeks or less.

You can track your passport application online at www.travel.state.gov after three weeks for routine applications and seven days for an expedited application.

Recycle your books!  The B'Ville Public Library accepts books, fiction, non fiction, hard cover or paperback year round.  They have book sales twice a year, April and November.

Get a second blue bin and battery bag at the Van Buren Clerk's office!

Paint Cans? -Cans of dried paint can be placed with your trash.  Put kitty litter in cans containing paint and when it has dried, place in your trash.  Latex paint only - Oil based paint must be delivered to OCRRA on Hazardous Waste days.
