Public Hearing Notice 5/18/10 for Cold War Exemption for Real Property
LEGAL NOTICE
TOWN OF VAN BUREN
Notice is here by given that a public hearing will be held on May 18, 2010 at 7:32 pm at the Van Buren Town Hall, 7575 Van Buren Road, Baldwinsville, New York to consider a local law that would allow the following exemption from real property:
Qualifying residential real property shall be exempt from taxation to the extent of 15% of the assessed Value of such property; provided, however, that such exemption shall not exceed the lesser of $36,000 or the product of $36,000 multiplied by the latest state equalization rate for the Town of Van Buren.
In addition to the exemption provided by paragraph A of this subdivision, where the Cold War Veteran received a compensation rating from the United States Veterans Affairs or from the United States Department of Defense because of a Service Connected disability, qualifying residential real property shall be exempt from taxation to the extent of the product of the assessed Value of such property, multiplied by 50% of the Cold War Veteran disability rating; provided, however, that such exemption shall not exceed $120,000, or the product of $120,000 multiplied by the latest State equalization rate for the Town of Van Buren, whichever is less.
The entire text of the proposed local law is available for review in the Town Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.
All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at this public hearing.
