TOWN OF VAN BUREN
NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS OF THE MEMPHIS FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Hearing will be held by the Van Buren Town Board at the Van Buren Town Hall, 7575 Van Buren Road, Baldwinsville, New York, on the 5th day of November 2008, at 7:35 pm., local time, for the purpose of considering contracting with the Memphis Fire Department for fire protection to be furnished by said Fire Department to the Fire Protection Districts established in the Towns of Van Buren and Camillus and known as the “Memphis Fire Protection District” upon the following general terms: to wit,
(a) the fire department shall answer and attend all calls in said district;
(b) for such service, the Memphis Fire Department, shall receive for the period beginning January 1, 2009 and ending December 31, 2009, from the Towns of Van Buren and Camillus, a sum not to exceed $118,000 per year, with the proportionate shares of each Town to be determined in a manner provided by law in such cases;
(c) the Fire protection District shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to the fire apparatus of the said Company sustained in answering such calls;
(d) the contract of one year shall continue to December 31, 2009 and
(e) that this contract shall supersede all previous contracts between said Towns and the Memphis Fire Department.
